The desktop app is the best fit when your vault should be a normal folder on your machine.

What desktop adds

• Filesystem vault access through the native shell.
• Native runtime markers and desktop capability detection.
• Desktop-backed services for features that need host support.

The renderer app stays the same product surface as the web app. Desktop only changes the host capabilities around it.
