Terms
Terms
These terms describe the basic rules for using the Lapis Notes website, documentation, web app, desktop app, and project resources.
Agreement
By using Lapis Notes or the lapis.md website, you agree to these terms, the Privacy page, and the open-source and content licenses that apply to the materials you use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or site.
What Lapis Provides
Lapis Notes provides a local-first notes app, public documentation, source code, developer APIs, and project resources. The web app and desktop app are provided as software you run in your own browser or on your own device.
Lapis does not currently provide hosted vault storage, hosted sync, accounts, subscriptions, or payment processing. If those services are added later, these terms and the privacy page should be updated before they are offered publicly.
Your Content And Responsibilities
You keep ownership of the notes, files, attachments, notebooks, and other content you create or open with Lapis Notes. You are responsible for your content, your backups, and your compliance with laws and third party rights that apply to your work.
Do not use the app, site, or project infrastructure to harm systems, violate rights, distribute unlawful content, or interfere with other users or maintainers.
Licenses And Ownership
Lapis Notes is distributed under multiple licenses by package and content type. The license overview explains the core app, plugin API, docs, examples, third-party code, and trademark boundaries.
Plugins, Code Execution, And Third Parties
Plugins, notebook cells, embeds, links, package CDNs, model hosts, and other third-party services can execute code, load remote resources, or process data outside the core app. You are responsible for deciding what plugins and code to trust.
Lapis is not responsible for third-party plugins, third-party services, or content reached through external links.
Availability And Changes
The app and site are provided as they are available. Features, routes, documentation, package boundaries, and distribution builds may change, be removed, or stop working. Static web hosting and third-party dependencies may also be unavailable from time to time.
No Warranties
Lapis Notes is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent allowed by law. The app may contain bugs, data loss risks, compatibility issues, security issues, or documentation errors.
You should keep independent backups of important vaults and test workflows before relying on them for critical work.
Limitation Of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Lapis Notes contributors and maintainers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, business interruption, or security incidents arising from your use of the app, site, docs, plugins, or third-party services.
Updates To These Terms
The latest terms will be published on this page. Continued use of the app or site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
